The Swifts were a little unlucky to come away with only a point from their visit to Old Blues.
A first half strike from Peter McCoskrie gave Matamata the lead at the break after a strong first 45 minutes.
The hosts levelled during the second half after a harshly awarded spot kick, but Matamata held on to take what would have been viewed prior to the match as an unlikely point.
Andrew Clothier and Bjorn Vossen led the way while youngster, Jordan Wise, was strong again in goal in only his second match for the 1st team.
