It’s the big kick off this weekend as our three senior teams begin their 2014 season on Saturday and Sunday. Finally!

The Swifts kick off their Waikato Bay of Plenty Federation League Division 1 campaign at newly promoted Tauranga Boys College FC. New head coach, Chris Powell, will lead the Swifts in a competitive game for the first time. Along with assistant, Thomas Campbell, and manager, Richard Underwood, he plans to build a young side that will represent the Swifts strongly throughout the region.

The Swifts Reserves travel in the opposite direction on Saturday to play Hamilton-based Eastern City in Waikato Division A. The reserves are being coached by Ronan Costello, with assistance from Rob Cox and Nat Gaskell. They have had a couple of decent pre-season results an will be hoping that form flows through the their first real game.

Both Saturday games kick off at 2.45pm.

On Sunday the Swifts Ladies play the first of four consecutive home games to begin their season. The Ladies host Mangakino United at the Matamata Domain, with kick off set for 11am. Jonathan Crook is coaching the side for a second season and has an enthusiastic* and committed group of players to work with this season.
