It was a big weekend of football for Matamata Swifts as the bottom of the table Stanley Group Matamata Swifts went in search of their first point for the season against a visiting Taupo. The match finished 2-2 with plenty of incident. Click here for a report and photos.

At the other end of their table, the Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies travelled to Hamilton to play fellow undefeated side Melville in a match which would decide who would lead the division at the halfway point of the season. For the Swifts Reserves side it was their first knock-out match as they began their quest to win the Print House Waikato Cup with a match against the Unicol C side. The reserves squeaked through 3-2 in extra time. Click here for the report.

The Matamata SportsWorld Swifts Under-17s picked up their first win of the season at Whakatane. After going behind early the under-17s equalised through Cam Loft in the 24th minute then saw a Mark Russenberger force a Whakatane defender to put through his own net for the match decider. Rueben Wigglesworth and Hugh Budge put in strong performances.
