There were 25 goals in the four games involving our senior teams this weekend.

On Saturday the Stanley Joinery Matamata Swifts were defeated 6-4 at unbeaten AFC Fury. The Swifts scored first through Bjorn Vossen, but found themselves trailing 3-1 at the break before an enthralling 2nd half. Vossen again, Scott Parsonage and Callum Barr scored after the break. The Swifts Reserves made no race of it against Waikato Division A’s bottom side, Waikato Unicol. Playing away from home, the reserves scored through player/coach Ronan Costello (2), Jamie Cox (2), Matt Monteith and David Hyslop. The win sees the reserves sitting in sixth, but they’re only three points out of first in what’s shaping up as a tight league.

On Sunday the Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies got back in the winners circle after a 2-1 home victory over Cambridge. Hailey Maddren scored a double in a match the ladies should have won by a much greater margin. Click here for a brief report and photos.

In the late match at the Domain the Matamata SportsWorld Swifts U-17’s were defeated 5-0 by a slick Hamilton Wanderers Blue side. Click here for a brief report and photos.
