All three senior teams were back in action over ANZAC Weekend.
The Stanley Joinery Matamata Swifts hosted league leaders, Tauranga City United, and lost 3-0, but there were some promising signs from our young side. Click here for the match details.
The Swifts Reserves travelled to Porritt Stadium to take on another league leading team, Hamilton Wanderers, and found themselves on the end of a 7-2 defeat. While the result looks like a hammering much of it was self inflicted and the reserves should be better for it. Player/coach, Ronan Costello, scored both goals.
It was better news on Sunday when the Swifts Ladies hosted Waikato Unicol, another team that was sitting at the top of the league prior to kick-off. Ninety minutes later, however, it was Matamata sitting pretty at the summit after an 8-1 victory. The goals were spread around. Click here for the match report, including photos.
