Saturday’s Quiz Night fundraiser for our Under-19 side was a huge success, with a significant amount of money raised and a lot of fun had by the more the 50 people who attended.

Winner’s PJSZS squeaked to a narrow win ahead of the Leaners, their victory coming down to Waikato Stud Matamata Swifts captain, Scott Parsonage’s ability to identify Dakota by the Stereophonics in the bonus music question. Team Evolve came first at the wrong end, but still walked away with something.

After the Quiz, Malcolm Raynel did his best impression of an auctioneer to extract decent money out of the by then suitably lubricated attendees. That he was able to run a brilliant auction was down to the superb array of donated goods, which included a Milwaukee drill set, a massive hamper of groceries, dinner and café vouchers, sports apparel and alcohol.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to the businesses and individuals who donated goods:

Morrinsville PlaceMakers, Morrinsville New World (Mike Dawson), Redoubt, Sweet Painted Lady Cafe, Roberto’s, Score Sportswear, The Soccer Shop, Zoe Reichardt, Paul & Jacqueline Richardson, Matamata Bricklayers 2013.

Our Under-19 team is playing several friendlies before heading to Napier at Labour Weekend for the U-19 Youth Championships. Their final draw is still to be determined, but we’ll have it on the website as soon as it’s available.

The funds raised from the Quiz Night have made a huge dent in the not insignificant costs of attending this superb tournament.
