Two Matamata sides go on the hunt for silverware this weekend, with Stanley Joinery Matamata Swifts challenging Cambridge for the Federation Challenge Shield and our 11th Grade Hornets playing Western United in the final of the Waikato 11th Grade Knockout Cup.

The Stanley Joinery Swifts play Cambridge for the second time in two weeks in what is their final match of the 2014 Waikato Bay of Plenty Federation League Division 1. After a challenging season the Swifts have the opportunity to end the season on a high. If they can manage to secure victory over Cambridge then they will secure the Challenge Shield for the summer. But it will be a difficult task as a win to Cambridge will guarantee the hosts second place in the league. The match kicks off at 2.45pm on Saturday at John Kerkhof Park, Cambridge.

Earlier on Saturday our 11th Grade Hornets will be favoured to win the Waikato 11th Grade Knockout Cup in the final, which is to be played in Hamilton. The Hornets faced probably their most difficult task last Saturday, when they dispatched the 11th Grade Premier League champions, Claudelands Rovers Titans 3-0 in the semi. But anything can happen in a final, so the Hornets will need to be on their game one final time this season. The match kicks off at 9am on Saturday morning at Glenview Park, Hamilton.

The Swifts Reserves have completed their season, but the Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies still have a couple of games to go. This Sunday they head to Cambridge to play their final league game of the season, weeks and weeks after they played their second last league game. The Ladies have already wrapped up the Waikato C title, so there is little riding on the outcome of this one, but the team will be looking to put in a good performance ahead of next Sunday’s Waikato Ladies Plate final. Their match against Cambridge kicks off at 11am on Sunday at John Kerkhof Par.
