Stanley Joinery Matamata Swifts have had their Federation League Division 1 match against Cambridge postponed until September 13, but they’ll be the only side cooling their heals this weekend.
The Swifts Reserves host Waikato Division A title rivals, Hamilton Wanderers, in a match that will have a seismic impact on the standings at the top of the table. These two sides are joint top in a league where the next four teams sit within five points. If you wanted a definition of the word close… then this is it. The match kicks off at 1pm at the Domain.
On Sunday the Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies, who last week wrapped up Waikato Ladies Division C, kick off their cup campaign. They host Unicol B, a side currently sits 3rd in Waikato Division B. It will be a good test for our unbeaten Ladies team. The match kicks off at 11am at the Domain.
Completing a home treble this weekend, the Matamata SportsWorld Under-17s host Whakatane Town. Matamata comfortably won the reverse fixture earlier in the season so will be looking to begin term 3 with three more points. The match kicks off at 1pm at the Domain.
All our junior teams are back on the field this Saturday after their school holiday break. Only three of our nine sides are at home in league games, so there’s a fair bit of travelling involved this Saturday. We have three teams (the Dragons, Hornets and Magpies) involved in knock-out cup games, meaning they have two games in one day. All the draws are here.
Our mini-kickers programme also gets up and running again after the holiday break.
