So, you think the season’s coming to an end? Don’t be fooled by that summery weather…
Both men’s teams begin a run of four home games in five weeks tomorrow. Waikato Stud Matamata Swifts host Rotorua United in the WaiBOP Premiership on what is becoming an increasingly challenging Matamata Domain surface. Both sides aren’t in the best of form so a tight encounter is on the cards. A win to either side would be a massive confidence booster. Let’s hope it’s the Swifts that walk away with the three points. The match kicks off at 2.45pm.

In the early game at the Domain, the Richardson Racing Stables Swifts Reserves welcome Claudelands Rovers for what should be a cracking encounter. Rovers sit in third – on the cusp of the promotion spots – while the reserves are unbeaten at home. Rovers are just the sort of scalp the reserves have come close to taking this season. Could that come tomorrow? The match kicks off at 12.30pm.
On Sunday the Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies head to Hamilton to take on Wanderers in a match that may or may not double up as a challenge for the Carter Memorial Challenge Cup. Wanderers lost their Waikato Ladies Cup semi-final at home to Cambridge last Sunday, but have protested the result. Either way, the ladies will be keen to get a result against a side that won 5-0 at the Domain earlier in the season. The match kicks off at 11am on Sunday at Porritt Stadium.
This is the penultimate weekend of football for our 8th to Open Grade Junior teams and our Mini-Kickers programme. Click here to find out where our teams are this weekend. As usual, Mini-Kickers will be at the Domain from 9am.
