With Cambridge listed as short-odds favourites to win the Premiership in 2015 it will be a tough first up ask for the young Swifts. But it is exactly the sort of challenge this side, who improved markedly over the second half of last season, should relish. The match kicks off at 2.45pm at the Matamata Domain.

The reserves, incorporating many of last season’s under-17 squad, play the curtain raiser at 12.30pm. The team has developed well during the pre-season, under the tutelage of new coach, Paul Richardson, and will expect to do well in 2015.

The Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies begin their season after Easter. They play Papamoa in a pre-season friendly at the Domain on Sunday.

All our junior teams get underway on Saturday May 2. Team lists for all 8th to Open Grade junior teams will be available here by early next week.
