On Sunday the Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies won 3-1 against Unicol at a boggy Waikato University. Goals to Sarah Coppard, Annemieke Verstraten and Kate Smitstra kept the Ladies top of the league.
The Matamata Sports World Swifts U-17s were a late equaliser away from defeating highly fancied Melville United, ending up being held to a 3-3 draw. Logan Raynel and Ignacio Trias both scored while a Jordan Wise shot was deflected in for an own goal.
