On what’s looking like being another wet weekend, we’re set to host a round 1 ISPS Handa Chatham Cup match against Auckland-based NRFL Division 2 side, Onehunga Mangere United. This is a great opportunity for the COMAG Matamata Swifts to test themselves against a side playing at a higher level.
The last time we played Onehunga Mangere at home (pictured above) was in our 2012 NRFL campaign and resulted in a 2-0 win to the visitors. You’ll be happy to know we won the return match 2-1.
In the early games on Saturday, the Richardson Racing Stables Swifts Reserves host Taupo Reserves while the A team plays 2016 Waikato Division A champions, Eastern City. On Sunday, the Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies travel to Hamilton to play Claudelands Rovers.
All our junior teams are set for another round of grading (weather depending). Any cancellations for this weekend will be posted here.
